PLAY"Ice In The Sun" is een heerlijk vroeg Status Quo-nummer met een lekker uptempo, swingend poprock-gevoel — nog ver voor de heavy boogie waar de band later mee groot werd. Juist die lichte, bijna sixties-achtige vibe maakt het een plezier om op gitaar te spelen.
Het nummer draait waarschijnlijk om een handvol veelgebruikte majeurakkoorden in een rechttoe-rechtaan reeks die je na één doorspelen al voelt zitten. Het ritme vraagt om een vlotte, verende aanslagstijl — denk aan lichte downstrokes met wat swing erin, niet te strak. De akkoordenwissels zijn vermoedelijk strak op de tel, wat het nummer juist zo energiek houdt.
